I really
hope many of you will find time to read this and give it a little thought. In
life we tend to take things around us for granted and we don´t often think
about of the 795 million people that are starving world wide.
Those of you that know me, know that I love
and I´m extremely passionate when it comes to helping others. I have just started working on a charity
project, that was introduced to me by the lovely Samina, called the
"Malawi project". This project is dedicated to help the people in
Malawi and ensures that the children get food and nutrition they need. Malawi
is an Sub-Saharan African region, and is worlwide one of the areas with the
highest prevalence (percentage of population) of hunger. One person in
four there is undernourished.
Each donation provides 30 meals for a child. The meals are nutritionally balanced, and contain all key nutrients children need for survival and growth. What is unique about this project is that the meal-packages are donated to children in schools, This draws a lot children to school who would otherwise be sent to work. But the meals are also produced by the farmers in Malawi, giving 400 farmers a job.
This makes it a win win situation that grants the economy and a contributes to a development of the country.
This picture was taken by the photographer Marcus Westerberg during the distributing of the meal-packages .Just look at that smile !!!
I really believe that we can all make a difference :)
Feel free to send me an email ( carolina.falini@gmail.com ) or a private message and I can give you more information about the project.
